KVH vs ordinary structural timber

KVH (Konstruktionsvollholz) is not “just timber” but a structural material for design loads, with controlled moisture and a declared strength class.

Species — Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris). AkzoNobel adhesives approved by MPA Stuttgart Otto-Graf, FCBA France, SKH/KOMO Holland and BUtgb Belgium.

Notified-body CE certificates cover finger-jointed KVH (EN 15497, class C24) and glued solid timber DuoLam / TrioLam (EN 14080, classes C24 and C30). BSH glulam of class GL24h is not covered by a notified-body certificate, so CE marking does not extend to it.

Where KVH timber is used

Frame construction. Walls, partitions, frame-panel systems (Platform Frame, Balloon Frame).

Roof structures. Rafters, purlins, wall plates.

Inter-floor slabs. Floor joist systems.

Large timber structures. In combination with CLT and glulam.

KVH for EU tenders and green building

KVH per EN 15497 and glued solid timber per EN 14080 are the standard for building specifications in Poland, Czechia, Germany and Austria. Rezult provides:
